Our department develops and applies cutting-edge scientific knowledge concerning: the psychological and social processes that underlie learning; the design of effective instruction; the factors affecting the mental health of learners of all ages; and the methodological tools required to generate this knowledge.

 

Department ranked #1

According to U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 edition of the Best Graduate Schools, our department is ranked as the #1 Educational Psychology program in the nation.  We consistently rank at the top of the list.

UW-Madison also maintained a top 10 ranking among all schools of education. The School of Education checked in at No. 10, which is tops among Big Ten Conference institutions. This marks the 14th time in 15 years that UW-Madison’s School of Education has been ranked among the top 10. 

Our Programs

We offer Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Educational Psychology. The M.S. and Ph.D. programs provide comprehensive knowledge of the field and intensive specialization in four program areas of study and research:

Congratulations to our Students!

Bryan Keller accepted a position at Columbia University. He is a graduating student in our Quantitative Methods area. He will be an Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics in the Department of Human Development in Teachers College. We wish you the best, Bryan!
