Biography
Joel Beier is a doctoral student in the Learning Sciences area within the Department of Educational Psychology and is advised by Dr. Mitchell Nathan in the Educational Psychology department and Dr. Sam Pazicni in the Chemistry department. Joel is interested in understanding how students develop a grounded yet flexible understanding of multiple representations in chemistry education. Joel was previously advised by Dr. Martina Rau, where he researched how virtual and physical manipulatives help students to learn with and about visual representations in various contexts
