Dr. Chia-chen Yang, Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology at Oklahoma State University and UW-Madison Alumna, has been named this year’s recipient of the Department of Educational Psychology’s Alumni Early Career Award.
Yang earned her PhD in Educational Psychology in the Human Development area in 2014 under the direction of Professor Brad Brown. Since then, she has gone on to publish over twenty articles in prominent journals and receive multiple other awards from established professional societies, such as the Society for Research in Adolescence and the Society for Research in Child Development.
With a focus on the impact of communication technologies on young people’s development and well-being, Yang’s research bridges the fields of Communication Science and Human Development, exploring aspects of identity development, social adjustment to college, racial-ethnic discrimination, and the impact of multi-tasking.
Yang will give a colloquium on her research Monday, March 28 (2:30 – 4:00 p.m.) in 259 Educational Sciences.
